Salon 22 opened in Newport in 2020, though the story goes back much further. Hannah has been hairdressing for over 25 years and always wanted a place of her own. Somewhere friendly, relaxed, and welcoming.
We focus on exceptional hairdressing in a space that feels easy from the moment you walk in. The atmosphere is warm and informal, and the work is careful, thoughtful, and done with real attention. People come here because it feels good to be here. You can settle in, feel at ease, and know you’re in capable hands.
Over the years, Hannah has supported people early in their careers, and some of those she encouraged are now part of the team, while others are working in the wider hairdressing community. Today, the salon is led by Hannah and a small team who share the same approach: skilled, grounded, and quietly confident in what they do.

How we work
The pace here is calm. You’re greeted, settled, and given space. No rush, no fuss. We take the time to understand not just what you want, but how you want to feel when you leave.
Our work is precise and considered. We check as we go, make sure you’re comfortable, and focus on the details that make a cut or colour feel just right. Experience matters, but so does care, and you should feel both.
There’s no pressure while you’re with us. Come chatty or quiet, certain or unsure. We work with all ages and styles, and you never have to perform or pretend. Just come as you are.
